Media Source

Media Source refers to the diverse range of inputs or interfaces through which a device or application can access and display media content.

The categories include:

  • Local File: Direct playback of media files stored on the local device or storage media.

  • Web Browser: Streams or plays media content through internet browser technology, allowing access to online media sources.

  • Desktop Stream: Capturing and displaying media content streamed directly from the desktop environment of a Windows PC.

  • Stream: Receiving and rendering live or pre-recorded media streams over a network.

  • SMB (Server Message Block): Accessing and playing media files located on a network via the SMB protocol, commonly used for sharing files within a local network.

  • DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance): Playing media through a network that conforms to DLNA standards, allowing devices to share content over a home network.
